ABOUT THE ART:
The original abstract works of Xndrsn Art are spontaneous and eye-catching, using lines, colors, patterns, movement, rhythm and texture to create visually musical compositions. Comprising themes of joy, spontaneity and mental health, these works encourage the viewers’ introspection upon personal barriers to joy.
The visually sporadic nature of his work speaks to the complexity of the mind and is an invitation into his personal thought process. In these works, the viewer can identify recurring symbols (both numeric and musical in value) that serve as visual refrains, guiding the eye throughout the composition.
The proverbial “bear claw,” or “comb-like” symbol (seen as the logo) and its variations can be found throughout his works and are symbolic of a smile, given that its branches are called “teeth.” This symbol is exemplified also through recurring parallel lines, often in sets of three.
The majority of his works incorporate the use of acrylic paints and various forms of ink due to their contrasting behaviors against light and on paper, canvas and wood surfaces. The interplay of these mediums offer subtle and textural contrasts of matte and sheen, keeping the eye engaged and active.
Color theory lends to melodic visuals in its uses of repeated or sporadic forms and negative space. Feelings derived of various combinations of color play against the grounding rhythms of black acrylic or heavy ink lines for solidity and balance.
Xndrsn Art exemplifies the ethic that the way we do anything is the way we do everything. As viewers encounter the work, they are encouraged to observe how their personal interactions reflect their outlooks and perspectives on ideas of joy and mental health.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Christian is self-taught in the disciplines of realism, abstract painting and digital art. Born and raised in Mobile, AL, he honed his love for music and art from a very young age. In 2019, he moved to New York City and, soon after, began working in hospitality, serving the homeless. He now pursues a budding career in fine arts, utilizing his influences of music and visual design. Having triumphed over years of depression through his art, he creates with the mission of sharing its joy and healing with the world.
